Terrorism, Fear, Mergers, Downsizing, Layoffs, Unemployment… Should You Start Your Own Business?
Too many people
don't plan ahead for
the possibility of
financial setbacks,
problems or
adversity. The
consequences of this
can be devastating
for some. Here is a
plan to consider...
(PRWEB) July 11,
2005 -- There are
over 16,157,000
people unemployed at
this time. During
these uncertain
times employers are
doing whatever they
can to survive and
to try to also make
a profit doing so.
This includes
putting together
mergers, downsizing,
laying off employees
and whatever else it
takes.
“During these
corporate decisions
and changes that
businesses need to
make, it is
sometimes the
employees who have
to pay the price for
the good of the
business,” says
business expert and
author Sherif Osman.
He goes on to say,
“At any time an
employee can be told
that they have a
couple months or
less to find a new
source of income. At
any time the average
employees world can
turn upside down.”
It is always a good
idea to be learning
how to start, run
and market your own
business while you
are in a job. This
is probably the best
use of your free
time if you want to
do what you can to
prevent from finding
yourself in a very
stressful, uncertain
financial situation.
It is also a good
idea if you want to
build up a nice nest
egg to use as you
please down the
road. Sherif Osman
suggests the
following to
employees who are
considering starting
their own business:
1. Make a list of
what interests you
and what you could
enjoy doing.
2. If you have
computer knowledge
or can learn to use
a computer, consider
starting an online
business. You can
automate many things
in an Internet
business and spend
much less time in an
Internet business
than what is
typically required
from a brick and
mortar business.
3. Decide whether or
not you would like
to create your own
product or products,
or whether you would
prefer to market the
products that others
have created for a
percentage of the
profits through an
affiliate
arrangement.
4. Research the
different resources
and tools out there
that can save you
time, make your
business much more
predictable and
profitable, and that
can help you to
automate as much as
possible and enable
you to compete
effectively.
