Dog Food Tester

Career Advice on How to Become A Dog Food Tester

Do you feel as though you are at your wits end where your job search or career planning is concerned?  Are you worried that soon you will not have enough money to buy dog food?  Well there may be a way out that doesn’t involve a stripper pole, but it’s not exactly pleasant either… unless you like dog food that is.

Career Facts:

A job as a dog food tester is a foodie’s nightmare incarnate.  You wake up in the morning, brush your teeth (but what’s the point in that?) get dressed and hop in your car.  On the outside, you look like any other working bee heading off the hive; only you have a deep, dark secret.  While you tell everyone that you work as a product tester, you know better.  Clutching that wheel at ten and two and staring blankly ahead at the looming dog food factory, you know what you do in there; you know the truth.

There is no way to “pretty” this one up folks, as a dog food tester you eat, sniff and evaluate dog food.  Dogs can’t talk, and that is the only reason that you have a job and are not eating their food three meals a day.  Then again, how hungry can you be after eating dog food all day?  Oh the sweet horse meal irony of it all.  You took a job as a dog food tester so you could afford to buy something other than dog food, but now you are too full.  Oh yes, the irony.

Career Opportunities and Job Outlook- Fair:

America definitely continues its love affair with the dog.  While it is true that the cat has made serious gains in pet popularity, there is no denying that man’s best friend is here to stay.  With this in mind, don’t expect the dog food tester job to disappear, but don’t expect much growth either.  After all, how many people can realistically be employed eating dog food?

Job Outlook is Fair

A Day in The Life:

As a dog food tester, be prepared to evaluate all sorts of factors such as texture and consistency, in addition to taste, of course.  While this may not be the most glamorous job in the world, at least it will allow you to feel closer to your dog and keep you from living in a doghouse.

Average Salary:

Salary is tough to sniff out but you shouldn’t expect much to howl about.

Career Training and Qualifications:

The qualifications for this job are uniquely narrow.  In short, one needs to be willing to eat dog food.
