Paparazzo

Career Advice on How to Become A Paparazzo

Here are a few career planning tips as far as whether or not you are well suited to becoming a paparazzo.  Do you have a camera?  Do you like stalking people and being wildly aggressive?  Do you looking shocked when people get angry after you have followed them for ten hours straight on their vacation?  Do you like yelling, “I am just trying to make a living” at the top of your lungs?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, then you might have a mildly exciting and completely unrewarding career as a member of the professional paparazzi.

Career Facts:

Why would anyone be a professional stalker for a living?  The answer is, of course, money.  For every paparazzi member that makes nearly nothing for a photo, there are those moments when paparazzi capture a “Hollywood hunk” with his shirt off (or better yet a “Hollywood hunk” with his shirt off and man boobs and a massive gut).  Photos of this kind can go for thousands of dollars and make the largely freelance paparazzi population extremely happy.

Career Opportunities and Job Outlook-Good:

While exact statistics are hard to come by, it is difficult to imagine that our society will suddenly stop caring about our gods- the celebrities.  As a result, we can expect to see paparazzi continue to earn money for the photos they take.

Job Outlook is Good

A Day in The Life:

Most paparazzi spend their days stalking their prey looking for that perfect shot.  Hopefully, this does not mean being beaten to death in the process.

Average Salary:

The job search and payment terms will be a bit different for this career, because most paparazzi are freelancers. They are paid per photo.   The paparazzi are, to some extent, at the mercy of fate and the publications that want their photos.  Some photos can be worth a great deal of money.  Not surprisingly, earnings vary greatly.

Career Training and Qualifications:

Being a decent photographer is usually less important than being highly aggressive and wildly persistent.
