Career Advice on How to Become a Blimp Pilot

Once upon a time being a blimp pilot was just about the coolest job a fellow could have.  Then the Hindenburg had to go and blow up and well, we all know how that all ended.  Blimps have sort of fallen by the wayside in the modern era, but there was a time that the blimp had the power to stir the imagination.

Yet, even in this technological age, there is no denying the unmistakable charm of the blimp.  It’s easy to see why many would want to consider blimp pilot when career planning or doing a job search.  After all, a blimp pilot gets to fly around in a blimp all day.  What’s not to like about that?

Career Facts:

Today blimps are largely used for advertising.  After all, almost everyone knows of the Goodyear Blimp.  Blimp pilots can expect to fly around simply to be seen.  The days of carrying passengers great distances are gone.  Today, the blimp pilot is usually flying a giant billboard.

Career Opportunities and Job Outlook-Unknown:

The job growth for pilots, in general, is expected to be around thirteen percent, which is roughly average.  However, the job growth for a blimp pilot is a little more difficult to calculate.  Some feel that blimps may enjoy a bit of a renaissance, while others feel that the day of the advertising blimp is also a thing of the past.  Only time will tell.

A Day in The Life:

Get in the blimp.  Fly the blimp.  Try and not be the guy or gal who crashes the blimp.

$25k – $70k

Career Training and Qualifications:
