Career Advice on How to Become A Whiskey Ambassador

No, you are not dreaming.  There really is a job whose title is “whiskey ambassador.”  If you are thinking that it took some real imagination to come up with such a career, you are definitely correct.

Career Facts:

A career as a whiskey ambassador does sound like something that originated in the delusional intoxicated dream of an alcoholic.  “I had a dream I was a whiskey ambassador and I was paid to drink whiskey and tell people how awesome it was!”  You are probably thinking that there absolutely must be more too it than you are reading.  On this point, you are correct.  The man who essentially created this job from scratch is Jeremy Bill who now tours the world touting the value and virtues of whisky.  Bell has been known to give his whiskey presentations in locations such as Boston.  Part of what makes Bell’s whiskey ambassador job so unique is that in addition to the whiskey, Bell tells jokes and puts on a little show to go with the brew.

The job of whiskey ambassador does nicely underscore an interesting fact.  Those who are in the middle of a job search or career planning may at times be served by thinking outside the box when it comes to employment.  Clearly the position of whiskey ambassador did not exist before Bell created it.  This highlights how one can in fact, on occasion, create a workforce niche.  Bell obviously accessed when he knew and what he would like to do and said, “whiskey.”  Now you might not be able to pull this trick off to the same degree, but the core concept could hold valid for any job seeker.  Perhaps you have unique skills that could be turned into a career, now that could be worth exploring.
